Itinerary
DAY 1: CUSCO – HUACAHUASI
We will pick up your hotel before 6am to start our trip to Lares, where we will pass through the villages of Calca and then we can visit the archaeological complex Wamanmarca a small pre-Inca citadel where we can observe spectacular ( terrace, temple and Incas streets), then continue to the valley of Lares where you will have your first breakfast accompanied by incredible views of the Andes mountain ranges. Then, you can enjoy the thermal baths, which are made up of several pools ranging from cold to very hot, are composed of purely volcanic water, it is considered good for bones, stress, muscles and headaches. Then we’ll enjoy lunch.
Later, we will start a 3 hour walk in which the guide will explain us about textiles, lives, agriculture, cultivation of many varieties of organic potatoes and medicinal plants, in this walk we can see quite alpacas, vicuña and the most impressive of the “decorations of the Andean houses”. Afterwards we arrive at Huaca Wasi camp (3770 m.s.n.m),” the guide will accompany us to the village and visit some local homes, where he will learn about the lifestyle and ancient traditions of the local people. Then we will stop by for dinner and finally rest in our tents or shops.
DAY 2: HUACAHUSI – YANAHUARA
Our wake will be 6 am, with our coca matte services, after our breakfast we will continue walking for 3 hours to Huacarpunku where we can observe a very beautiful waterfall; The views are breathtaking. You will see lakes, waterfalls, llamas and alpacas. Then we will start our descent to the lunch point where we will pass through two lagoons (first lagoon called Auro Q’ocha where we will observe birds of the area and the second lagoon Yurac Q’ocha (3600 m.s.n.m) where you can enjoy lunch. Maybe there will be flames grazing nearby, after lunch you will descend through a q’euñas forest with fantastic views of the valley and houses are still composed of an original construction, ancient, made of stone, with thatched roofs until you reach YANAHUARA (3400 m.s.n.m) our tents are waiting for us, for the overnight stay.
DAY 3: YANAHUARA – OLLANTAYTAMBO – AGUAS CALIENTES
In the morning between 7 am, after breakfast we continue walking downhill, along this path, we can see the preparation of the chicha, taste if you want the delicious Inca chicha and pass through fruit trees and you will begin to feel the changes of the micro-climate and you’ll start to see the crops that are different than the high mountains. Where people from the sacred valley are dedicated to the cultivation of corn, quinoa, kiwi, peaches, avocados and other types of fruits. We continue with the ascent to the viewpoint of Yanahuara where we can see the impressive sacred valley, then we will go down to have our lunch with our mountain chef and say goodbye because we will pass boarding the bus where we will move to Ollantaytambo to take the train to the village of Aguas Calientes for two hours. Overnight at our hostel.
DAY 4: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
The most magical day because we will finally visit Machu Picchu, the wake is very early to take the first buses 5.30 in the morning, where together with our guide we will visit for about two hours the Inca city, then you will have free time to explore on your own and take pictures. In the afternoon, we will take a two-hour train back to Ollantaytambo, followed by our bus back to Cusco.
