Manu Shipetiari Community Classic 4 Days / 3 Nights

The Manu biosphere reserve has always been the territory of ancestral peoples such as the Matsiguenkas, the hunter-gatherer experts whose heritage goes back thousands of years. In this program we will learn some secrets about the relationship they have with nature, we will share a time to discover a little of the day by day of the Matsiguenka people in the jungle of Manu.

Day 01: Cusco – Cloud Forest-Community Matsiguenka Shipitiari (BL, C)

Very early we will pick you up from your hotel, our destination will be the exuberant cloud forest region where the Andes end and give way to the amzonia. During the tour we will visit the chulapas of Ninamarka (pre-Inca funerary precincts) and then head to the colorful colonial town of Paucartambo. Then we will ascend to the Acjanaco pass (3550 m.s.n.m) as the entrance to the Manu National Park.

We will continue our journey until we reach the port of Atalaya (550 masl), where we change transport by a motorized boat that will take us through the waters of the Alto Madre de Dios River, until we reach the Matsiguenka community of Shipetiari. The Community of Matsiguenka is adjacent to the National Park of Manu, after a welcome we will settle in our comfortable rooms. Later we will explore the jungle in search of fauna, surrounded by more extravagant sounds that make this place a mysterious place.

Day 02: Matsiguenka Shipetiari Community (B, L, D)

After our breakfast we will explore the jungle accompanied by a member of the community to learn firsthand the secrets of the forest. In this walk we will have the opportunity to know the ecosystem of the Manu forest, we will find trees over 20 meters high and lots of flora and fauna. In the afternoon we will have time to share experiences and learn about the daily life of our new friends, we will do some activities with them, such as the harvest of yucca, banana and other seasonal crops.

At night, we will explore the jungle in search of nocturnal creatures.

Day 03: Matsiguenka Shipetiari Community (B, L, D)

After breakfast we will be ready to explore the jungle, I will also have the opportunity to make your own arrow with the ancestral technique of the Matshiguenka, in the afternoon we will participate in a campfire and traditional food, such as the pacamoto (pieces of fish cooked in bamboo) bananas and other local products, we will spend some time exchanging experiences with our matshiguenkas friends.

Day 04: Matsiguenka Shipetiari Community – Villa Salvacion – Cusco (B, BL)

Very early we will say goodbye to our friends and embark to Atalaya port and then private transportation to the city of Cusco

We arrive in Cusco between 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
