This great visit to Machu Picchu, involves a fantastic short trek excursion to the Surroundings Mountains of Machu Picchu. On this tour you will visit the impressive Putucusi Mountain, a sacred place where it is said the Incas performed ceremonies and religious rituals. At the top of Putucusi you will be rewarded by an amazing view of Machu Picchu, as well as the great natural scenery around, featuring giant mountains covered by lush vegetation, all within a mysterious atmosphere. So this is another great way to visit the 7 new wonder of our planet.

Day 1: CUSCO – AGUAS CALIENTES

Our clients are collected from their hotel at 5:30 am, and then are transferred to the Train Station of Cusco. The Train leaves at 6:15am towards Aguas Calientes, a town close to the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. The train ride to Machu Picchu is one of the most beautiful journeys that visitors can experience in our country. The trip offers a great natural, so many staggering views of the Andes and a jungle atmosphere after descending to the 2000 metres. After approximately 4 hours we will have arrived in Aguas Calientes, where a representative from our agency will welcome you and will take you (on foot, no taxis in this town) to your hotel. In the afternoon (optional), you will be picked up by our local representative and then will start the trek to the Putucusi Mountain. This trek takes about 3 hours and will grant you amazing views of the citadel of Machu Picchu, as well as the Surroundings Mountains. After our trek we will get back to the town of Aguas Calientes, and if you wish, you can go to relax in the thermal baths. The hot springs are located on the upper section of the village and offers outdoor pools. Overnight at the designated hotel in Aguas Calientes.

Day 2: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

Breakfast at your hotel; full day Excursion to Machu Picchu, early transfer to the Bus Stop for the short ride (25 minutes) up to the citadel of Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, you will participate in a guided tour of the Citadel, visiting the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial (the most important preserved Intihuatana), the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, houses, warehouses, a large central square; and all connected by narrow roads and steps that are surrounded by terraces cut into the mountain side. After the tour you’ll have time to stroll around the Archaeological Site at your leisure. Opportunity to walk (approx. 1 hour) up to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) or climb to the top of Wayna Picchu, with a magnificent view of the whole Sanctuary, return in the afternoon by train to Cusco and transfer to your hotel.
