Itinerary
Day 1 – CUSCO – CHINCHERO – MORAY – SALT MINES – AGUAS CALIENTES:
We pick you up at your Hotel at 7:00 hrs and then we drive for about 45 minutes to the amazing village of Chinchero to visit our first Inca ruins of the tour. Chinchero is a small Inca living town. Where you will explore the Inca site with her many farming terraces which the Incas used to grow potatoes. From here you will head to the famous Colonial Catholic Church which has amazing paintings from the 16th century, with amazing colors. Then you will visit the famous handmade craft center where you will see the ladies working in the traditional style demonstrate how they weave together beautiful alpaca sweaters since the Inca’s time. After that we drive to the stunning Inca site of Moray known as “the Inca agriculture greenhouse or laboratory” which was an experimental place where the Incas studied the adaptation of plants to new ecosystems, the optimal conditions for their crops, the soils and weather effects on crops. After time to enjoy and explore this beautiful Inca sight, we continue driving towards the colonial town of Maras and to the Pre-Inca Salt Mine (Salineras). There you will have the opportunity to appreciate more than 3000 small salt pools. These salt pools have been used and cultivated the same way since the Inca’s time and are the main source of salt for all the Cusco region. Afterwards we continue our journey to Urubamba for enjoy a delicious lunch before heading to the last attraction of the day, the Ollantaytanbo fortress, known as the living Inca city, which was a very important village during the Inca times and includes some beautiful attractions, including the Temple of the Sun. This building was built with massive stones brought for over 4km away. We will enjoy a dinner in Ollantaytambo before heading on the 7PM train to Aguas Calientes. It will take 2 hours to Aguas Calientes and once you arrive to this town our representative will meet you just outside the train station and take you to your hotel. Where you will have a good night sleep.
Day 2 – AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO:
After an early breakfast at your hotel you will take the bus which takes 25 minutes up a switchback road to get to Machu Picchu. Buses start at 05:30 hrs and run as a shuttle, as soon as they get full, the go). If you don’t care to take the bus and prefer to hike along the Inca trail just let your guide know so that he can show you the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu which will take about 1 hour 30 minutes.
Once in Machu Picchu Park, you will have a 2 hour private guided tour. Where you will visit the different main places of this Inca city such as the Main Square, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sundial, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows and the cemeteries. At the end of the tour you will have free time to explore the ruins on your own. If you have booked a permit to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain from where you can see panoramic views of the entire Inca city of Machu Picchu. That will be your next adventure. Also you can opt to visit The Sun Gate is a 1 hour climb which is also great to get those postcard pictures of the ruins from way above. More lately you can take your lunch at Aguas Calientes. (Lunch is on your own).
The usual train departure time is in the afternoon to return to Ollantaytambo, where we will be waiting to take you to Cusco and then to your hotel in our private transport.

Useful Information
IMPORTANT
- We recommend that you take a lunch or a good snack with you to Machu Picchu
- If you are in the rainy season, ask your guide.
- Machu Picchu is an area of heat and heat in the afternoons (when it is not raining)
- Take enough drinking water and / or a dehydrator and inside Machu Picchu the prices are very expensive
- It is allowed to take a bottle of water and snacks in the ruins of Machu Picchu
- The day rucksack should be small, large backpacks are not allowed in Machu Picchu
